Meet Our Creative Team

Claire LaJoye of Kozy Kat Crochet

Claire LaJoye brings warmth, whimsy, and creativity to the studio through her fiber arts classes. Her favorite thing to teach is fiber arts, mostly crochet, and she has a gift for making students feel excited and capable as they learn something new with their hands.

Claire offers some truly unforgettable classes. One favorite is the chance to create a yarn snake complete with a birth certificate, googly eyes, and a whole personality. She also teaches a charming class where kids learn to crochet a collar for a stuffed animal friend, with the stuffed animal included in the ticket. Students can also enjoy making a crochet hanging plant and other playful projects that blend imagination with practical skill-building.

Claire’s classes are perfect for students who love cozy, tactile projects and want to experience the joy of making something from yarn. Her business is Kozy Kat Crochet, and the best way to contact her directly is by email at KozyKatCrochet@outlook.com.

Kassondra, The Homeschool Art Teacher

Kassondra is known around our studio as the queen of homeschool art classes. Formally trained as an art teacher, she attended Mt. St. Joseph for Art Education, just like Jessica Blankenship. Today, she is a full-time homeschool mom who joyfully leads homeschool art classes designed to encourage creativity, confidence, and connection.

Kassondra has developed many exciting classes for a wide range of ages and interests. Her offerings include a weekly art club for teens and tweens, sewing machine basics, and even painting classes for adults. She has many skills and loves sharing the joy of art with children, adults, and the whole family.

Her online name is The Homeschool Art Teacher, and she also owns Chachi’s Closet, an online thrift store. Kassondra’s classes are a beautiful example of the educational experiences of variety and interest that make The Artful Gathering so special.

Jamie Norvell of Creations of Studio 39

Jamie Norvell is another formally trained art teacher whose creativity reaches far beyond the classroom. She runs a coaching business for fellow creative entrepreneurs online and also leads many in-person workshops at The Artful Gathering. Her classes range from adult collage workshops to children’s birthday parties, along with Bible journaling, scripture creativity, and more.

Jamie is the owner of Creations of Studio 39, and she loves helping women grow in confidence while creating with all kinds of mixed media. Her teaching style is encouraging, expressive, and deeply rooted in joyful discovery. She also travels to teach and happily spreads the joy of artistic exploration everywhere she goes.

In Jamie’s own words, “I’m Jamie and I own Creations of Studio 39. I love teaching women how to be more confident creating using all kinds of mixed media!” If you have questions, you can text or call her at (513)503-2677.

Michele of 1508 & Co.

Michele, the creator of 1508 & Co., is a true renaissance woman with a wide range of talents and passions. She brings depth, beauty, and purpose to everything she creates, from publishing books to teaching fabric and mosaic classes.

Michele also has a heart for encouraging the next generation. She leads experiences that help young tween girls and their mothers grow into confident, happy lives. One especially meaningful offering she has developed is a letter subscription designed to encourage, inspire, and positively influence young girls through snail mail each month.

Her classes and projects offer more than just art instruction. She creates space for connection, confidence, and personal growth. Michele’s work is a wonderful part of the heart behind The Artful Gathering.

Myranda Steffes of The Crayon Cauldron

Myranda Steffes, owner of The Crayon Cauldron, is another valued part of our growing studio community. She adds to the creative energy that fills The Artful Gathering with imagination, color, and discovery. As one of the businesses operating within our studio walls, Myranda helps make our space a destination for hands-on learning and artistic adventure. She has a passion for bringing women together to do something for themselves while creating relaxing, memorable, creative events for women!

The Artful Gathering is proud to host teachers and creators with a wide range of specialties, and Myranda is part of that exciting mix of talent that gives families access to educational experiences of variety and interest in one welcoming place.

Jessica Blankenship of The Artful Gathering

Finally, there's me- Jessica Blankenship, art teacher and owner of The Artful Gathering. My favorite art classes to teach are full day themed art camps and clay classes for kids! I have been teaching art since 2009! As a full-time art teacher in Bethel, I opened my business here because I love this community! Summer after summer, since graduating Mt. St. Joseph as an art teacher, I had to rent a building to host my art camps for 2 weeks a year. One day it occurred to me that teaching art camps was my favorite art experience, and I wondered if I could start an in-person art studio to do more than just 2 weeks a year. This is how The Artful Gathering was born! More recently, I decided to officially illustrate a children's story I had written in my head years ago. I finally did it! It is newly published and its message is the embodiment of my vision for my art studio. "Hippo's Invitation to Joy" is the children's story of Hippo being beckoned OUT of the MUD to enjoy friendship and fun. My studio is the invitation to you, in the same way, to escape the mud of modern, mundane life and embark on an artful adventure.

Meet Jessica Blankenship

I am an art teacher, a preacher's wife, a mom, an artist and a total nerd.   Since 2009, I have been teaching art full time and directing summer art camps for kids.

My goal is to inspire, to speak LIFE.

The Artful Gathering, in all its various facets, is a place for quality time. A place for gathering.  Inspiration through art, conversation and being together. Meaningfulness.  Togetherness in a beautiful space.

I’m talking about quality of life: life that is enriched while being real and honest.

Intentional memory-making.
Intentional design.
Intentional moments amid the fast-paced world in which we live.

I believe quality of life means searching out old-time wisdom and applying it to life in the current day, even when it is hard to know how to do that.

I want to see you experiencing life beyond modern hustle and full-speed survival mode.

Sprinkled in all that, you'll find that I value simplicity, kids, art and creativity, living naturally, spirituality, and... calm. Calm is my superpower. Well, maybe my superpower is actually management of kids and messy art supplies!

My Bachelor of Arts in Art Education is from the College of Mt. Saint Joseph, 2009. I have been teaching art and summer art camps ever since! My art camps were originally modeled after an internship at the Taft Museum of Art during college.  From there, I built a successful continuous summer art camp that has repeated every summer.  It now has a waitlist and is very popular! I used to have to rent a venue each summer to teach the camps but now I have a beautiful space called The Artful Gathering!

My Master's degree is in Gifted Education from Northern Kentucky University, 2014.

I have a love of learning that I generously pass on to my students in every project. You will see lots of cross-curricular lessons from me as well as mixed media! I believe art is incredibly therapeutic as well as educational and playful!  My newest training is art therapy! I am excited to implement all the wonderful facets of art for the community and beyond.

Overall, I believe that education is a gift.  Learning ought to be a joyful endeavor and all lessons should be play-infused for maximum effects.  Yes, I have my research to back up the FUN! I wrote extensively about this "invitation to joy" through play and art in a book collaboration called "On Earth As In Heaven", available on Amazon.

I can't wait to share my love of all these things at The Artful Gathering, LLC at 120 E. Plane ST. Bethel, OH 45106!
